Selected Student Comments (from end of course and mid-term evaluations)

  • Great T.A.!! Very Friendly, I enjoyed the class.

  • Good Instructor, made everything clear, even with the dull activities assigned to us.

  • Matt couldn’t have been nicer. He was “joyful” in class and made a genuine effort to get to know everyone. I was very impressed.

  • Matt is a great lab instructor and is very patient and understanding with the students. He is readily available for extra help and always helps in any way he can.

  • Very well spoken…willing to help anyone with constant reminders that he would help you if you needed it.

  • Matt was a friendly, considerate, and competent lab instructor.

  • Matt was an awesome TA. He was so understanding and always willing to be of service.

  • He learned all of the students names in our class very quickly. Whenever one of the students had a question, he would call on them by their name and ask what the question was. This really helped me because I really felt apart of the class. I wasn’t afraid to ask questions because he always made my question seem very important. I really enjoyed having Matt as a teacher.

  • He is very attentive and kind and is very willing to help out students individually. That is hard to find at a large university even in smaller classes or with TAs, but Matt First does a great job with this. He is also very knowledgeable about the subject, and he is very excited for us to learn about it.
